FULL HOME RENOVATION, MICKLEOVER, DERBYSHIRE
Full Home Renovation, Mickleover, Derbyshire
The Brief
This 20-something client has just purchased a new home off-plan in Derbyshire, and wants our help with putting her stamp on it.
The Design
Entryway Design
Our client wanted to dress this space without making it feel cluttered. We selected this console table from Swoon – a narrow piece of furniture of simple design in black and white. The mirror above bounces light around, while providing a place for a last quick make-up check before heading out.
Open Plan Kitchen Dining Room Design
We helped this client to select the options for her new home while it was being constructed including the selection of these soft grey and wood effect cabinets, carpets, wood-effect tiles, wardrobe etc. We had a kitchen dining island installed aftermarket which increased storage and worktop space to make this a much more practical place to entertain. All of the furniture in this space is from Danetti including the bar stools, dining table and chairs.
Wave-headed curtains in this geometric Villa Nova fabric in the dining area are complemented with a pelmet covered with the same in the Kitchen along with a Venetian blind, all made and installed by Lynne Kelly Curtains Ltd.

Living Room
This airy south-facing room boasts a generous L-shaped sofa made by F&M Steed covered in velvet. Windows are treated with wave-headed curtains and Venetian blinds – a cost effective and practical option at the front of the house where the need to balance light and privacy is so important.
The white and gold colourways tie together the square coffee table, round nesting side tables and media cabinet.
Master Suite
The client loves the restful feel of her Master Bedroom. This king-sized storage bed upholstered in Harlequin fabric along with the curtains provide texture while the chest of drawers and the ceiling light add a bit of drama!

Study
The smallest bedroom has been repurposed as a Study. The seat of this comfy office chair tucks neatly under an art deco inspired desk, while out of sight behind the door sits a matching tall cabinet in a contrasting colourway. A decorative pelmet is paired with a practical taped Venetian blind to complete the look.
Working with Emma has been incredible!
“She really picks up on your taste while also challenging you to consider things outside of your usual style. She is always happy to help with any queries and really invests herself and time into you. Thanks Emma for helping me decorate my first home and perfecting it to the vision I had for it!”

The Brief
Buying a new home for the first time is a daunting as it is exciting – so many decisions to make! This is what we did to help our client along the way when she purchased a new home off-plan in Derbyshire.
The Design
Living Room
This airy south-facing room boasts a generous L-shaped sofa balanced by two occasional comfy armchairs made by F&M Steed covered in velvet. Windows are treated with wave-headed curtains and Venetian blinds – while the curtains add fabric for that cosy feel, Venetians are a cost effective and practical way to balance privacy with light.
Open Plan Kitchen Dining Room Design
If you’ve ever bought a house ‘off plan’ before, you’ll know the bewildering number of decisions that need to be made for everything from floor, tile and lighting to Kitchen cabinetry, worktops and appliances. We spent a couple of hours in the showroom putting the different options together until our client was happy that all of her choices hung together as a cohesive plan.
We had a kitchen dining island installed aftermarket, both increasing storage and worktop space and making it a welcoming place for entertaining. All of the furniture in this part of the house is from Danetti including the bar stools and chairs in this attractive champagne velvet, along with a white ceramic-topped dining table.
This fabulous geometric print makes for a lovely pelmet in the kitchen (again in combination with a Venetian blind), and works just as well in the wave-headed curtain in the Dining Area. All of the above have been made and installed by Lynne Kelly Curtains Ltd.

Study
We are designing lots of Studies at the moment, and the smallest room of this house makes the perfect space for one. We’ve introduced a touch of teal with this office chair from Danetti and paired with a blue corner desk from made.com. A decorative pelmet is paired with a practical taped Venetian blind to complete the look.
Bedrooms
All of the bedrooms have been fitted out with storage beds custom made by F&M Steed.
Window treatments are a combination of curtains, and/or upholstered pelmets in conjunction with Venetian blinds courtesy of Lynne Kelly Curtains Ltd. The most striking, perhaps, the bed with fluted headboard covered in a textured Clarke & Clarke velvet and a pelmet covered in this great Fryett’s fabric in the grey colourway.

I would highly recommend her to anyone.
“Emma is a fantastic, highly skilled interior designer. She made the process of decorating my house so easy and fun. She’s very knowledgeable about what styles work together and truly takes your personal taste into consideration. I would highly recommend her to anyone.”

MASTER BEDROOM INTERIOR, MELBOURNE, DERBYSHIRE
Master Bedroom Interior, Melbourne, Derbyshire
The Brief
This client and I first worked together several years ago. When she called me to ask for help with her lovely new home in Melbourne, I jumped at the chance.
The Design
Inspiration
The design for this interesting space was inspired by an item that was selected for the client’s last home. This lovely Moët & Chandon poster image by Alphonse Mucha has been licensed for use on a decorative Infrared (IR) heating panel. I’m using this technology a lot these days instead of boiler fed radiators – they are very efficient and powered with electricity. As gas boilers are phased out of use, this sort of technology could well be the way forward.
Furniture
The client is delighted with her new leather-covered storage bed, which looks a treat next to her existing chaise long. I love these bed linens in shades of green and red on a crisp white background, and the range of reasonably priced furniture, bedside table, chest-of-drawers and dressing table, provide lots of much needed storage. The mirror was chosen by the client – it picks up the warm metal tones that run through the design while bouncing light around the room.

Window Treatments and Lighting
The Harlequin fabric used to create the pelmet has also been used to recover the cushion on the chaise longue, all made by the ever talented Lynne Kelly Curtains Ltd. The ceiling light and wall light pair cream faux silk shades with antique brass – a really lovely combination. I love getting ready in front of a proper make-up mirror – one with even lighting that can be adjusted for different times of day – and I knew that my client would love it too. This Hollywood Mirror really does the trick!
Emma is a superstar
“Emma is a superstar, she worked on my last house and totally understood not only my need for guidance but also my time restrictions with work and the fact that I would often not be around to make decisions. She took the lead and produced such excellent results that I struggled to say goodbye to that house two years later. Fast forward and we’re working together again and she has got it all down, from level of project management to gentle herding to working in my sometimes insane suggestions – she never misses a beat or drops a ball and manages me just as enthusiastically as the design. Not only would use again, have used again, brilliant :)”
